CONTACT US

Hey! I'm Reverend Gneid Lackey and I'm the minister of The Hillview Pastoral Family (HPF). We are a family of three churches: Faith United Church (in St. Jones Within, NL); Grace United Church (in Hillview, NL); and Emmanuel United Church (in North West Brook, NL) and surrounding communities. I am the minister for each of the three churches but each member of the Christian community is called to minister according to their gifts. So, ministry is a group effort. We all try to work together to be there for one another in faith.

I hold a a B.A. specialization honors in English from Ottawa University and a Masters of Divinity from The Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, NS. When people ask me where I hail from sometimes its just easier to say I'm from Canada: I grew up in different places across Canada. I was raised in a military family so we moved around a lot. I consider Windsor, Nova Scotia to be my "anchor" because, my parents were raised there.  I am a family-oriented person and that family includes my church family. I feel very blessed to walk with God everyday and take that journey with this community of faith.

My family here in Hillview is made up of my husband, Brent, and our three fur-babies: Brie and Blue (our dogs: fun fact they're mother and son) and Pluto the cat. I think we make a pretty awesome pack!

I am an ordained minister but that doesn't make me any more of a believer or "better" than any congregant. I choose to dedicate a lot of time to studying the Word and working to help others on their path of faith. I feel called to do this profession. When we say that we feel "called" in Christianity (especially in regards to a profession or course of action), it means that we feel led to that role by God. I feel like being a minister is something God wants me to do. We're a part of one family, we all have different gifts, and we are all called, in a way, to bring those gifts to our family and work together with God to live out our faith. An early Apostle in the church taught us that we have many members in our family but together we form one unit. Only through God's guidance can we work to our full potential. The apostle Paul taught us that when many people use their God-given gifts to work together they act like many members of one Body. No one is as perfect as Jesus...however, we can use our gifts (with the help of God's guidance - the Holy Spirit) and be like He would be in the world (i.e. be His body - his hands and his feet).

Every minister is a dedicated student of Christ. No one can claim they know everything there is to know about the Gospel or faith, but a minister has the special job of walking the path of faith with those who are in need of a friend in Christ. I am not a trained counselor but I can give some spiritual guidance; I can give an ear to those who need someone to listen; or I can pray with people in need of prayer. I will help those in need (including you) as much as I possibly can with any questions or concerns.

If you want to find out more about our worshiping family, or if you have any questions feel free to email me; drop into any of our services; or send us a message using the form below (you can even snail mail us if you're patient enough). We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

We hope that wherever your journey takes you that you enjoy it. You don't need a membership to have faith and there are no fees. God only asks that we put our faith first and that means loving God and loving one another!

May God bless you.
